Rep. Hunter Joins 2008 Presidential Race

San Diego Republican, Duncan Hunter, admitted his entrance to the 2008 presidential election last October. He currently moves around states such as Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina in process to reinforce his financial matters and gather more supporters. He was a former chairman of House Armed Services Committee and he objects illegal immigration. Hunter, standing in the stage of contenders, claimed, "America needs a way ahead in the ongoing war against terrorists and a policy of economic opportunity, with a reaffirmation of faith in the principles of our founding."

I chose this article because Hunter is a San Diego lawmaker, from the same state as I am. I believe there are many barriers and obstacles that he needs to carry in completion to his success, to gather money and his supporters. However, it’s good to see him having strong hope and motivation in effort to his goal.

Thats interesting. If he is from California, he would be the best one to know that California's majority workforces contain of illegal immigrants. However, he objects illegal immigration. Then if his ideas get through, who are going to work for the jobs that the illegal immigrants work in? Is he going to boost up the wages then?

Well, if this californian has the bravery, courage, and "guts" to run for president then more power to him! i'm glad the he feels empowered to want to make a change in the society that he lives in, but i just hope that more people will begin to support him because of his values on his campaign trail.

Its amazing how we are able to receive information on the presidential race so fast, because the election is in 2008 yet in the middle of 2007 we are able to figure out who had been admitted entrance. From what he comes from he seems like a well-qualified candidate and i also agree with his position on illegal immigration

What method did he use to become nominated? Even if he sounds like a good candidate to us, he'll probably not win. He'll need more funding and I doubt many states will back him up because he isn't as well known as the other candidates. He'll probably not be able to get his image out to the nation in such a short time. One year doesn't seem like enough time to campaign for an election that only holds every four years. Plus, the Republican Party is split on who they want to give most of their support. With this split in the party, I believe that the Republicans will lose by a landslide this next election.

Hunter opposes illegal immigration and he feels that there needs to be a way ahead for the war against terrorists and also for the policy of economic opportunity. I feel that he is opposing illegal immigration because of these goals that he has but I believe that immigrants contributes so much to our economy. They may be coming from a different country, but it does not necessarily mean that they are going to be terrorists. America is a land of immigrants so just about anyone can be a terrorist. This is my opinion but I still find respect for Hunter to join in as a candidate and try to win to accomplish his goals.

I don't disagree that he joined the 2008 Presidential Race because everyone can try even though it is impossible. Hunter was being brave.
