Middle Income Donors Giving Big

Many citizens donate money to show support for the candidates. For example, Robert Allen, an unemployed salesman from North Carolina has been donating money to John Edwards whenever he has some extra cash. He says that whenever he writes a check he thinks about his mentally disabled daughter. He donates the cash because he knows that Edwards would support people like his daughter. So far, Allen has donated $319.53 to Edwards, according to Federal Election Commission records released Sunday. He is part of an explosion in the number of small-dollar donors who are sending money to the 2008 presidential candidates.

I think that citizens shouldn't donate money to the candidates or should donate less. Most of the candidates are already wealthy from the first place. If they have extra cash they should just donate them to charity or for a better cause to help save people's lives.

I also believe that everyone should donate money to good causes. I personally have a member in my family that has special needs, and he benefits from services that great people donate to every day.

I agree with insomnia. I think that people should donate not for the candidates who are running for president because they have enough money. I heard that Obama is donationg for his campaign.

Donations are good in some aspects, however, I feel that so much money are wasted due to only one position for presidency. I feel that there should be some limits for contenders of receiving money due to their characteristics of sustain money.

I also believe that donating to charities would serve as a better cause than donating to candidates. The candidates would use the money for their own financial needs, and these needs are sometimes unnecessary. Do they honest need to make another commercial that makes a candidate look good and the opponent look bad and evil? Robert Allen has good intentions, but I think he would be better of using that money for donating to organizations that help children him his daughter. His actions are a touching gesture though.

People have the choice to donate money where they please, it's as simple as that. And if you were to limit how much money one candidate could raise for his/her campaign, each time there was an election that fixed amount would have to change due to steady inflation over time.

I agree that this rediculous amount of money should be given to charity. It makes me so angry that a this money is gong to waste when it could be helping families get a better life or perhaps cure a desease.
