D.C. endorsements may not play in Peoria

Obama campaign claims they won't make the same mistakes as Howard Dean did in 2004. He won't take an early endorsement from D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty or members of the D.C. council. In 2004, during a convention, Fenty told the media tht Howard Dean supported gay marriage. However, when Fenty anounced it, Dean corrected it by saying he announcing that he doesn't support it. Dean skipped the city's first debate in Dec. 29 and first-in-the-nation primary Jan. 13. He undoubtly seemed to have lost the race by March. Dean needed a votes from the African American community to sell himself to minorities even if they aren't in a state.

In my opnion, because Dean rudely interupted Fenty's speech that he didn't support gay marriage, that probably cost him votes. This is a warning for Obama not to the do the same.

That's so sad...I bet Fenty's campaign staff planned it all out. They deliberately publicized that Dean was for gay marriage to get him to tell the public his views. If he had not contested it, then the public would've thought he was for it. On the other hand, if he said that Fenty was lying, then Dean would be saying he was against it. So really...this was a lose-lose situation that Dean was stuck in. He must not have been a very good politician because he couldn't talk in circles and get himself out of the mud.

Seeing what Fenty has done to Dean, totally ruining his image, it is a wise choice for Obama not to take early endorsement from Fenty.

I think that everybody should just concentrate on their elections not others. Dean should not interupted Fenty's speech whatever it was about.

I really think that these candidates are being immature. If they really want to be the president and become a leader of this country they need to concentrate more on themselves and campaign a good image of them rather than trying to put down the other candidates.

Calling for a wrong characteristic is truly a negative thing for a contender to do. For example, Obama, currently saying that he didn't support war in the first place, but Cliton voted to send troops in the beginning, is a blaming remark that may cost his votes in some ways.
